Overnight Date Night

chocolate brain

Steve's birthday wasn't too exciting this year as it was a work day.  He got a few gifts, had tikka masala for dinner and went out for ice cream. We kind of decided that my mother's day gift would double as his birthday gift this year (it's big!).

We got tickets to HAMILTON!  What?!?  Ruby and Ada spent the night with our good friend the Scheetz and Steve and I got to have an overnight date to Austin.  We stayed at the cutest hotel ever.  It was an old union building turned into an open air hotel.  The hallways were all open air and the rooms were simple concrete and brick but very cool.  We went out for dinner at a Vietnamese cafe which was as amazing as it sounds!  Then we had some fun drinks at a rooftop bar downtown.  We kept seeing the rentable electric scooters all around town and joked we should ride them instead of taking an Uber.  After a drink, I guess it sounded like a more reasonable idea, not just a joke.  It may not have been our wisest decision as we had no helmets, but it sure was fun and we laughed a lot!

When we arrived at the theater on the UT campus we were told only clear bags were allowed inside.  I had a small moment of panic as we didn't have a car to run my purse back to, but they had that all figured out but of course.  We were able to rent a locker for the low-low price of $20.  What are you going to do?  The show was as incredible as expected and definitely lived up to all of the hype.  I'd go again in a heart-beat.

so excited

this is happening

it was amazing

The next morning we had breakfast at the adorable cafe at our hotel before heading back to our kiddies.  Such a great mother's day/birthday/date weekend!
