Big School Life

We've had to adjust our schedule and routine this fall due to me going back to work and also due to RJ's big school life!  We had a pretty carefree schedule the last three-ish years, but now we are more structured for sure.

Ruby has adapted well to Kindergarten as we knew she would.  She loves her teacher and has made many friends.  However, getting out of bed in the morning is her (and our) least favorite part, but once she gets going she's ready for her school day.  Her teacher has asked her to read to the class and provides her with some differentiated work now that she realized what a good little reader Ruby is.  I think she really likes having PE, art, music and library.  She's pretty particular about what she likes to wear (can you say sensory issues!?!) but she has dressed up for a few fun days this fall.

Ada and I pick Ruby up every day after school gets out.  We usually walk the few blocks over to get her and they both like to hang around and play with friends for a bit before we head home.  The evenings seem to fly by and I'm sure that will get crazier as the girls get older and have more homework and activities.  For now we only have a scheduled activity one or two afternoons a week.

Saturday and Sundays have been pretty sweet around here this fall.

We've had many busy, busy weekends, but when we are home the girls seem to stay busy and content playing together around the house.  I'm sure this is because they have much less time together during the week.

At home they are usually involved in some sort of play that involves traveling to see Gaga and Grandpa, as well as, dress up clothes of course!

I thought the weekdays would be more difficult on Ada but, while she loves having Ruby around to play with, she seems just fine hanging out with Mom or Caroline when Ruby is at school.

As you can see we have let go of any notion that we have control over them and given them full reign to dress themselves.  Most days we are providing a good laugh for their teachers.
