Mommy and Ruby had a very special date the end of July. Mary Poppins was playing at The Muny and we thought it would be the perfect occasion for Ruby's first Muny show! Ruby didn't really know what to expect but was excited about going to see "the beauty show" (beauty=Muny) after her bedtime!
If you're not from St. Louis, the Muny is the country's largest and oldest outdoor theatre. The theatre itself is impressive, with 11,000 seats built into a hill in Forest Park (a huge city park), and they put on a different Broadway style show every week in the summer. Steve and I went to several shows (usually sitting in the 1500 free seats) the first several years we lived here (aka: before kids)!
We got all fancy for our date and headed to the park. Ruby kept asking why there were people out "because it's past bedtime"! We stopped in the park to feed the fish and turtles and watched the Muny Kids sing and dance before the show.
We had to get a few treats before we found our seats!
I think Ruby thought the whole experience was pretty cool. Her favorite part of the show was "Supercalifragilisticexpiallidocious" and she was amazed that Mary Poppins could fly. "How did she fly? Maybe she had glitter on her."
It was a long show and very late for my cute little date, but she stayed awake the whole time and even insisted on walking all the way back to our car. She did crash on the 5 minute ride home though!
Hope we get to take both Ruby and Ada to the Muny in future summers!
Chimchiminychimchinychimchimcharoo! Lucky you, Roo! What a fun date.
