When Daddy's Away

We've had a busy couple weeks; Steve was in Seattle for a full week, then we headed to Madison to meet baby Charley, and Ada had ear surgery when we got back.  But I'm getting ahead of myself.  I'll post about our trip and Ada's tubes later this week.

I was super jealous that Steve got to go to Seattle, somewhere I've always wanted to go.

Unfortunately, I think most of his time there looked like this.

I've been really spoiled in that whenever Steve has to be gone for work someone comes to stay with me and the girls or we head to "Sconsin-Sota" so I always have lots of help.  It's a testament to how important Steve is to us and how much he does around here that I start to panic when he won't be around as usual.  I tried to be as prepared and planned as possible to help things go smoothly, but to be honest, I thought I might lose my marbles by myself for so long!  He left on a Sunday afternoon and early in the week everything was going well.  We had a few bedtime battles, but that's par for the course.  Otherwise I was feeling good.  We played.  We ran.  We napped.  We ate.  Real meals.  Look at me!  I'm doing all the things!  It didn't last all week though...there may have been a pan of "I can do this" fudge in the picture somewhere around Thursday.  By Friday I ordered mac-n-cheese for dinner. Delivery.  Yeah, I had pretty much given up by then!

For some reason I thought it was a good idea to have a garage sale on Saturday morning, even though Steve wasn't scheduled to get home until later that evening.  Thank the Lord I have great friends who came over and helped out with the sale and the girls.

We made a little money, got rid of a bunch of stuff, and, best of all, got our basements and closets cleaned out!

When Steve called with flight issues letting us know he wouldn't make it home until LATE Saturday night, there were tears from a couple of us.  And Ruby and Ada weren't happy either.

After a LONG day of travel, he finally made it home by 11:30.  We made it!  And we were packed up and on the road less than 12 hours later...
