The official count is six. Six ear infections in eight months. After several appointments with our pediatrician and an appointment with an ENT we decided to go ahead and have tubes put in.
This is what we think about ear infections.
We scooped Ada out of her crib e.a.r.l.y. Monday morning and headed to St. Louis Children's Hospital still in her jammies. Our neighbor graciously offered to come over so that Ruby could stay sleeping and hang out at home. Ruby loves Emily so she was pleased as a peach to have a date with her!
There was a lot of waiting around once at the hospital, but Ada was perfect, mostly curious about everything.
Hey Doctor, are you ready for me yet?!
After telling the doctors that Ada would likely scream when they took her back to the operating room from us, they brought me a suit (?) to put on.
They let me carry her back and I held her in my lap while she had the mask with anesthesia. It wasn't easy to leave her there once she was out, but I don't think it was more than 5 minutes until the ENT came in to tell us the surgery was done and everything went well. We had to wait a few more minutes to go get her in the recovery room and when we got there she was wide awake. The nurse said she didn't fuss at all, just woke up looking all around with a confused expression. The first, and only, thing she asked for was "Ruby, Ruby, Ruby". She was a pretty sleepy most of the day (so I got lots of snuggles) but was back to her usual self within a day.
We're praying this really helps combat the chronic ear infections and helps her sleep better at night too!
Here's hoping they are the answer for her (and you)!
ReplyDeleteI hope 'Lil Ada Bear is doing well. She is such a doll! I love the pic of her at the nurses station.
