Valentines

Picture this:  Ada and Ruby wearing adorable pink and red Valentine's outfits complete with heart clips in their hair.  Did you picture it?  Good, because I didn't get any photographs from the actual day.  I'm blaming it on the germs and lack of sleep around here!

The week leading up to Cupid's day, Ruby and I were crafting fools.  I found an (easy) idea for felt heart hair clips here which I thought would be perfect for Ruby's valentine's this year since she is in a class of all girls!  They were fun and quick to make.

We stuck them on a little card that we printed out and Ruby even signed (traced) her name on the back!

Ruby worked on these these cute glass jars for her teachers.

We ended up putting flowers in them, but they'd be pretty with a candle inside, or just used to hold pencils or whatever.

I found the idea here and, again, they were simple.  I cut out the tissue paper and Ruby basically did it all herself.  We used leftover peaches jars, white and pink tissue paper, and modge podge.  You could totally make these for any holiday/occasion.  (Gagas be warned, you may see something like this in your future!)

Sadly, Ruby was not healthy enough to go to school on Thursday for her Valentine party.  Since I was supposed to be one of the moms helping with the party we did run into school quickly in the morning to drop off some things for the goody bags and games.  Ruby was excited to bring her gifts for Miss Pam and Miss Nancy and give "my friends their Valentines".  Luckily Ruby got to (quickly) put her Valentine's in everyone's pouches and, since most of the other girls were already there, she got to bring her Valentine's home too.

Steve and I gave the girls a couple small treats, but they couldn't have been more perfect.  For Ruby, panda cookies, panda socks, and some new felt board pieces.  Ada got an Elmo book, an Elmo bubby, and panda cookies too.  Ruby put the socks on immediately and Ada carried her Elmo book around all day yelling "Melmo!  Melmo!"  They also got lots of fun goodies from both grandparents- thank you!

Steve and I spent Valentine's night on the couch working on our budget.  How romantic, huh?  Actually, neither of us had any desire to do anything but stay home since it was the only night in a stretch of ten that both of us were home.  Happy to call him my love no matter how we celebrate Valentine's Day!
