Shortly after we got married I started bugging Steve about getting a pet. A kitten to be exact. So when we returned from our honeymoon I started looking for ads for free kittens. I found one early January 2004 and asked Steve if we could go look at them. When we got to the house there was only one left and we were told he was the runt. After a few minutes of cuddling and playing with the kitten I turned to Steve and said, "What do you think?" The reply from this "dog person" was "We have to!"

We brought that 10 week old kitten home that night and he very quickly crawled into our hearts. Montego was part cat, part dog, and all tiger!

There's a hole in our hearts today but it's amazing how God gives us these gifts of love here on earth. When I think of how much joy and love we received from Monte over the last 9 1/2 years and know that is only a glimpse of what awaits for us in heaven, I can't fathom it.
This rainbow was in the sky this morning. Monte's rainbow. Thank you God, we needed that!

Monte had a good right hook until he decided to accept you. Once he got to know you he would allow you to pet him up at least for a little while til he ambled off. He would eventually return with a gentle sideways rub to your pant leg as if to say, I'm thinking about being your friend. It is hard to let your buddy go, but know that he is always a part of you and brought a lot of smiles.
