The Loooong Drive

Pretty much ever since Ruby was born we've opted to fly instead of drive between St. Louis and Minneapolis.  I'm so thankful that we've been able to do that.

We decided all 4 of us would drive back from Winona this time since Steve had his car up there and the price of an extra ticket was about 6 times what we usually spend.  

All started off well as both girls crashed less than 30 minutes into our drive.  It was prime naptime (around 1:30) and I hoped they'd both sleep for a couple hours.  

No such luck.  In less than an hour they were awake and stayed that way most of the drive.  

After 4 or 5 stops, 3 poopy diapers, 2 viewings of Sesame Street, and LOTS of snacks we had a quiet car.  It was 10:20.  We pulled into our driveway at 10:30.  

Yeah, ours might be the only kids in the world that don't sleep in the car.  By 8:30 both Ruby and Ada were delirious.  Ada was giggling uncontrollably and Ruby was talking nonsense nonstop.  Steve and I just laughed.  At that point there was nothing left to do!  

When I texted our nanny at 11:00 the next morning to see how cranky the girls were, she told me Ruby was still asleep!  Apparently she woke up for a couple hours mid-day and then went back down for a nap (which she had to be woken from so she wouldn't be up all night).

Any bets on how soon we'll make the drive again?!
