Sadly, (Great) Grandpa Bill Nelson passed away May 17th at the age of 81. We are so thankful that Steve was able to be in Winona earlier that week and spend time with his Grandpa. We were grateful that the whole Nelson family was together to celebrate his life, mourn his death, and take comfort that Grandpa is now in a better place.
From the moment I met the extended Nelson family it was evident that Steve's grandparents, Bill and Florence, adored their grandchildren.
They were so proud of all 8 of their grandchildren. Steve and his cousins loved Bill and Florence in return. (I've been enjoying these old pics. I'm so bummed that we didn't think to take a picture of the grandkids at the funeral/visitation. It was probably the first in a long time that everyone was together.)
I'm pretty sure Bill enjoyed his great-grandchildren almost as much! Every visit and phone call he was sure to say "Ruby is a jewel!"
Even though Ada wasn't the boy that he predicted when Steve told Grandpa that Ruby was going to be a big sister, he was pretty tickled to get hold her last Christmas.
We love you Grandpa. You will be greatly missed.
