The big 1-0 is quite a milestone! Ruby decided to have a pool party for her birthday celebration and begged and begged to have a sleep over too. Conveniently, her birthday fell on a Saturday this year so it worked out.
I brought her lunch on Friday (Chick-Fil-A, I think)
We opened presents first thing as always. One thing we didn't move to her new room in our new house was her swinging chair. There really wasn't a great spot for it, and, honestly, she didn't use it as much as we had hoped. I don't think it was the most comfortable for her to read in. So, she really wanted a cozy reading chair for her new room and I think we found a winner. Ruby snuggles up with a book in her chair daily. She also got the jean jacket she had been asking for, some other clothes, books, a game and 3D Hogswart Express puzzle, and lots of money and gift cards! She chose fruit and whip cream for breakfast again. She loves strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries! Olive Garden was her choice for lunch. (It seems she got extra birthday meals this year!)
fun crew
we got a couple pool games which were silly
sweet Olivia had a brace on her leg and couldn't swim
she requested ice cream cake
We had about 8 girls over to swim in the afternoon and they had a blast. We made a fun shark watermelon and had goldfish crackers for snacks in addition to cake. The favors turned out cute too! It was an easy party and lots of fun.
pretty sunset and fun skipping rocks down by the lake
pancakes for breakfast
We really hadn't done sleepovers up to this point. Ruby has spent the night just a couple times at others' houses and stayed up all night, which just seems like a lot to us. But... 10 felt like a big deal so we compromised on inviting just two girls to stay over. They played, watched a movie with pizza and popcorn, and then we went for a walk down to the lake. The girls did a great job of playing quietly in Ruby's bedroom while Ada went to bed and they were all ready to sleep around 11:00. They didn't get up too early to watch cartoons and we brought the girls home after breakfast. It was fun, the girls were sweet, and we all got pretty decent sleep so I call it a win!
