Ruby's First Grade Fun

Ruby finished up First Grade about a week after Ada's graduation.  She had a great year, liked her teacher and her friends, and really grew a lot!  One of the biggest areas of growth, was in her writing. Ruby was hesitant to really write much at all last year if she didn't know exactly how to spell every word, but she is now writing stories, lists, and signs with inventive spelling.

Hmm... perhaps you do need to "use this" box since your answer is wrong my darlin'.

One of our favorite parts of school this year was the Gifted and Talented (GT) program that she was able to take part in.  She went one day a week and did so many amazing things.  I loved that her GT teacher posted these pictures each week.  This Spring's unit was all about Hawaii and volcanos and we got to attend her showcase to see what she had learned.
Learning problem-solving and critical-thinking with chess!

Weaving was Ruby's favorite maker-time activity.

Spring in an elementary school is a busy time with programs, field trips and celebrations.  We were all able to attend the First Grade Musical one evening where they sang and performed Stone Soup.  It was a short, but sweet show!

Ada and I got to watch Ruby having all sorts of fun at their Field Day activities one morning.  And, why yes, our local high school does have a state-of-the-art indoor football practice field.  #weliveintexasyall
