Ada's PreK Graduation

Our baby had her big PreK graduation a couple weeks ago!  Hard to believe our baby will be heading to Kindergarten in the fall, but we know she is very ready.


The week before, they had a fun end-of-the-year party to celebrate.  As always, Ada easily made friends with all of her preschool classmates this year and will miss them dearly.

The day of the big graduation was lots of fun.  They do such a cute graduation ceremony at our preschool complete with caps, gowns, pomp and circumstance!  Just like Ruby, Ada marched in quite serious but gave a little grin to Mom and Dad.  They sang a bunch of fun songs and then received their diplomas.

A few weeks earlier we went to Kindergarten Round-Up at Woodway (where Ruby goes to school) and signed Ada up for the fall.  I have a feeling she will be a bit nervous to start, but we are confident she will love it and do great!

Tiny girl, big school!

She's been going to school three days a week this year 9:00-2:00 and is bored staying home with Mom the rest of the time.  Ada is constantly driving me crazy asking "where are we going to go" and "what we going to do".  I've gotten rid of most of my Kindergarten teaching stuff, but I've pulled out a few things here and there to keep her busy when she's home with me.

She also really, really wants to be able to read like her big sister, but has been a little averse to actually learning to read because she wants to read a "chapter book".  She'll often carry around a book several years beyond her reading level, counting the chapters and putting her bookmark in so she won't "lose her place"!  I finally convinced her to read some books for beginning readers that I have in my stash and we are practicing sight words and making some books of her own.  She has an incredible memory, so once she learns a word she can't forget it.  I secretly took this video the other day of her reading to Ruby.  Big Sis can often be critical of Ada's abilities, but she has been encouraging about her learning to read.
