Weekend in Austin

We decided to take advantage of the long weekend for MLK Day and do some exploring in Austin.  It's really an easy 1.25 hour drive and we love the city.  It was a chilly weekend (you know, highs in the 50's) but lots of fun!

We went to the Thinkery which is their children's museum.  It was super busy but lots of cool things to explore.

Later we met up with some friends.  One of my BFF's from RF, Hoff, and her husband were visiting friends for the weekend too.  It was pretty cool to see my girls hanging out with one of my high school friends!

The girls were most excited to swim at the pool in the hotel and Steve and I were most excited for GOOD (Mexican) food (Waco is severely lacking in that area).

The next day we explored the large outdoor park.  There was a cute train ride and a natural spring pool which, judging by the involuntary groans of everyone who jumped in, was very cold!

We will definitely take another weekend trip soon to enjoy all the good food, stock up at Trader Joe's, and discover some more of what keeps Austin weird!
