The saga continues...
So after a steady stream of antibiotics for more ear infections late last year, we ended up at Urgent Care when we were in Minnesota over Christmas. We saw an amazing doctor and were advised to use several over-the-counter meds until we got home to see our ENT (and also explore the possibility of an allergen). At that appointment we discovered that the ears were clear of infection but we did decide to have a hearing test done. We had been noticing severe hearing loss. I'd always thought Ada had some hearing loss, but it had never been obviously apparent until now. She was constantly saying, "What?" and "Huh?" and didn't even notice we'd been talking to her when her back was to us. Thankfully, the test results showed signs of fluid behind the eardrum along with the significant hearing loss which led our ENT, Dr. Guy, to recommend surgery. Obviously surgery isn't something we rush into or are excited about, but having such success the first time around with tubes and so many problems again we were glad we weren't asked to wait it out.
One Friday morning in late January, I woke the Bear up EARLY to go in for ear tubes and adenoid removal. Ada hopped right up, happy as can be. She is seriously the easiest going little cutie pie!
I knew she wouldn't be happy to be taken back to the OR without Momma, so they gave her some meds before hand. She was as loopy as can be and had a 5 minute conversation with her doctor about her fuzzy socks!
The surgery was quick and successful, but Steve and I had to wait quite awhile to get back and see her. Apparently she decided to take a nice long nap while under anesthesia. When we were finally getting ready to leave Ada asked, "Where's Dr. Guy?" I guess it's a good thing she has no recollection of anything!
Ada was grumpy as can be for the rest of the day, but enjoyed lots of popsicles, pudding, and homemade soup. I knew the tubes would be easy but was a little more concerned about the adenoid removal, which proved to be unnecessary worry. Ada was asking to eat chips and pretzels later that day!
We're about 6 weeks out from surgery and doing great! Crossing our fingers these tubes will stay in and keep us infection clear for awhile.
Those top 2 pics are "The Bear" in a nutshell! Love the loopy line about anesthesia! Glad to hear you are doing so well little Bear!
