My parents were able to come visit for a few days this summer and they timed their trip to be here for Ruby's first dance recital. It made for a bit of a hectic weekend, but we squeezed in loads of fun! We showed off our new house, walked around the neighborhood, checked out the local Arboretum, went swimming at the Y, took Grandpa to Torchy's Tacos for Father's Day, visited the Waco suspension bridge and our longhorns, went to church, and went to (Ada's) zoo too.
It was a HOT afternoon at the Arboretum.
Checking out downtown Waco before Church.
Introducing Gaga and Grandpa to our Longhorns.
HOT morning at the zoo! Good thing Grandpa brought his hat to keep cool!
Ada was pretty proud wearing Grandpa's hat and it fit her pretty well!!!
Ruby had dress rehearsal Friday and performances both Saturday and Sunday afternoon which was a lot... we are in Texas after all. Ha! There were many emails sent with all of the important information making sure my 5 year old's performance was extremely professional. ;) We had two fancy costumes (not the cutest in my book, but still fun) and I was instructed to put her hair in a bun which was perfect considering how SHORT it is! It all turned out and there were plenty of moms who took it all as seriously as I did (read: not at all seriously). Ruby's class did a tap and a ballet dance with lots of waiting in between. She had lots of fun and did so great! We were so proud of how well she performed! We all went to watch the Saturday performance. It was looooooooonnnnnng, but Ada, Dad, Gaga, and Grandpa were troopers. Just I brought her back for the Sunday performance and we snuck in to watch as many of the other dances as we could in between Ruby's numbers- she enjoyed that just as much! We weren't suppose to take pictures or video, but I snuck a couple and recorded the dress rehearsal.
All ready for tap.
Off they go!
Waiting, waiting, waiting.
