What We've Been Up To

Before school got out, this little Bear and I would go exploring and run errands together on Thursdays while Ruby was in school.

Now she gets to play with her best buddy every day of the week!

We certainly have our fair share of fighting going on (there is currently a scratch on someone's face to prove it), but they usually have lots of fun playing together.  And it often involves random outfits or pjs in the middle of the day!

I've tried to just let them have control over what they wear.  They really like to test me on that one!  Case in point, this is what Ada wore out to eat at the Mexican restaurant for Steve's birthday!

And proud as a peacock about her choice!

Daddy usually takes the girls on fun adventures on Saturday (Dadurday) mornings.

(Apparently we need to do a better job of modeling exercise for our children.)

Speaking of adventures, that's pretty much what I call anytime we have to get in the van.  It seriously takes. for. ever. to get everyone in and buckled.  Because everyone has to open their door, close their door, and buckle by. them. selves.

Going to bed is another struggle in this family.  I just relish in the fact no one is the boss of me and forget that I should go to sleep.  Oh, and there are some little people that don't love going to bed either.

However, one Dadurday at the mall the girls saw Build-a-Bear and Daddy made a deal if they stayed in their beds 10 nights in a row they could get a bear.  He knew this was an impossible feat.  Except that Ruby promptly proved him wrong.  About 5 days in we realized we were going to have to make good on this deal.  We also realized one poor soul was NEVER going to make it so we made a new deal that if Ada got rid of her bubbies she could get a bear too.  Yes my child still had her bubby at three.  And a half.  Whatever, she still napped.  And now that the bubbies are gone, so are the naps.

Proud girls (poor parents)!

And Ada is doing great sans bub.  The first couple nights she kept asking, "But what am I going to put in my mouth?!" but no major fuss!

Other than some visitors, we don't have much scheduled for our summer but we've stayed plenty busy.  I suspect we will be frequent visitors at the pool, library programs, and $1 movies!  I love that my girls are book lovers and are content doing a lot of this:

We checked out the Roadrunner Festival over Memorial Day weekend which was fun.

First thing both of them said when they got down was "I want to do it again!"

We've also been enjoying our new backyard and the discovering all the plant life.

We picked a few ripe peaches this week and they were yummy!

They're all pretty buggy though- anyone know of any natural remedies?

We have a few of these crepe myrtle trees that are beginning to bloom too.

And I better start collecting fig recipes.  This tree is huge.

We are going to have figs for days.
