Ruby and Ada were counting down the days until Easter Weekend because Auntie Sam and Logan were coming to visit us "deep in the heart of Texas" (as Ada said)! We even labeled their chairs the week before they arrived!
This was Ruby's idea and then Ada wanted to make some too, so Ru told her how to spell their names. I didn't actually know Ada could write her letters that well!
Sam and Logan were able to fly right into the tiny Waco airport Thursday night which made it an easy (15 min) pick-up and drop-off and also gave them a bit extra time here.
We had a beautiful day Friday to spend at Ada's zoo.
(Have I mentioned that Ada calls the Cameron Park Zoo here in Waco "My Zoo"? And when referring to the STL zoo, she says "Ruby's Zoo"... not sure where that came from.)
That afternoon we colored our hard-boiled eggs. Thank you to Auntie Sam for leading that charge!
Saturday was another gorgeous day so we showed them around a bit, checked out some parks, showed them the bluebonnets and went to the farmer's market.
We bought a few goodies and then hung out by the river.
And had some sister races!
We had lunch at Vitek's. Judging by Logan's decision to go back and order a second meal, I'd say it was well-liked!
Sunday morning we did Easter baskets and a little (indoor, due to the rain) egg hunt. The bunny brought some necessities, some goodies, and a teeter-totter for the swing set!
In addition to the risen Christ, a miracle occurred when Ruby and Ada agreed on matching dresses for church! (My friend Emily gave me several sets of matching dresses that were hand-me-downs from her girls so they had several to choose from.)
Side note: I started making the chalkboard sign in that picture and Ruby wanted to help me so she worked on the flowers but said, "Why did you write
He? How are we supposed to know who
He is?
Logan is risen?!" Sassafras.
We took Sam and Logan to our church and had a yummy lunch after service. After more
candy playtime and Easter bunny pie in the afternoon, we had to say goodbye. The girls had lots of fun being spoiled by their Auntie and Uncle and we are so glad they spent the weekend with us!
Of course I bribed my bunnies to take our traditional spring pictures this year too!
(That might be one of my all-time favorite pictures of Ru!)

ReplyDeleteI'm sure Ruby will be taller than me by next Easter.
ReplyDeleteI actually did notice the long legs and the long hair before you mentioned it. They look so grown up, and they have changed so much! We sure miss you guys! Amelija keeps asking if we can invite you guys to her birthday party. :)
