Texas Livin'

Everything is good down here in Texas!  Since coming back from our Christmas vacation we have settled back into our routine; Steve is working hard in his new position and a couple of his new hires recently started.  I am working at the girl's school on Mondays and Wednesdays which is fun and tiring.  I sometimes try to convince the girls we should all take a nap when we get home after school but they are usually more eager to go play outside, do some crafts, or play with the neighbors, Molly and Wes.

Tuesdays are pretty low-key, we often visit the library or just hang out in our pjs and do chores around the house.

On Thursdays Ruby has school (field trip day) so Ada and I usually run errands, get groceries, and maybe play at a park.

The past couple Fridays we've spent having playdates with some friends.  Last Friday we met friends at open gym at a gymnastics place.

We have been so blessed to have met and made many great friends already from school, in our neighborhood, and at our church.  A group of us got together for a playdate and to watch Fixer Upper yesterday.  Have you seen this HGTV show?  It's all in Waco and we actually know/are friends with a couple of the families who have been on it- so fun!  We joked about applying to be on it when we're ready to buy a house here (keep reading for more on that front...!)
I remember working full time and using our entire weekend to get our errands and chores accomplished, so we certainly cherish this slower routine.  Since we are so spoiled with time during the week, we often spend a warm Saturday at the Farmer's Market, zoo, or park.  Waco has a great farmer's market downtown on Saturday mornings.  It is right along the river, there's usually live music, and they have the most amazing crepe stand- yum! Steve often declares Saturday "Dadurday" and takes the girls somewhere for awhile

so I can go for a run, shower, and have some quiet time!
We have really been enjoying our Sunday mornings at UBC (University Baptist Church)...never would have thought we'd be going to a Baptist church, but it feels like a really good fit for our family right now.  If you've heard of David Crowder, it's actually the church he started while at Baylor.

The weather here isn't too different from the St Louis climate we were used to but without any snow.  We've had plenty of days where the high was in the 30's or 40's, but then we will have a stretch of 60's and 70's a few days later.

While we miss much about STL (mainly our friends and house) we are settling in here and really like living in Waco.  And, guess what?!  We have a contract to buy a house here!

After almost 6 months on the market we got some good news from our realtor (and friend) that there were 3 offers on our house.  If all goes smoothly we will close on our old house February 26th and on our new house February 27th.  Please pray all goes smoothly!  We are super excited about the new house- it feels so big and fancy and it's just a few blocks from the elementary school were Ruby will start this fall.  More pics and details when all becomes official!
