Home Sweet Home

We closed on our houses today!

From Winter 2014-15
Our (very first) UCity house is no longer ours.  Definitely a relief, but a little bittersweet as we LOVE that house.  After looking at houses again we realized what an amazing, though little, house it is.  We were happy to hear the buyers are a young couple who are first time home buyers and love the house too!  Our sweet neighbors sent us the picture with the SOLD sign!  I definitely got teary when we got the message from our realtor that it was official!

And we became home owners again today as well.  This great house, just a couple miles from where we rent now, is ours!

It's 2300 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms- it feels so fancy, grown-up and palatial to us!  It's all pretty updated and move in ready.  These pics are from the listing so I will post new ones once we get our own furniture and things moved and unpacked.

We will probably use the formal dining room for an office/sitting room.  I'm thinking a comfy chair next to that big window would be a great reading spot.

The living room (those beams!) is probably our fav.  Painting that fireplace (probably white) is the only real big project I want to do ASAP.

The kitchen is not huge but we love the cabinets and that subway tile.

Our master bath is also pretty amazing.  Both of those doors lead to the bath.  There are sinks on each side and TWO walk-in closets.  You guys, my closet is so big it has a window.  Steve and I shared a closet with sliding doors so you could only open one side at a time.  What am I even going to put in there?!

Ruby and Ada will each have their own bedrooms and the 4th will probably be used as a playroom and a place for guests.  So, yeah, we have plenty of room for visitors.  Hint, hint!

There's also an attached garage on the side (no basements here), and a nice fenced backyard with a covered patio (which apparently is a must here).

We are giving the sellers this weekend to move their stuff out and will take possession on Monday.  We plan to slowly move the small stuff next week and rent a truck for the big stuff next Saturday.  We feel so spoiled and grateful to call this our new home!

  2. YAY! How awesome. I love the new house! I loved the old one too, but you have so much room now. Amelija keeps talking about your girls and inviting them to her birthday party, or going to visit. Every now and then she just pops out their names and says she misses them or something. And, any time she hears Texas, she says, "That's where Ruby and Ada live!"
