Rollin' Rollin'

Although it is hot here and still doesn't feel like fall, we have been enjoying the evenings outside after dinner most nights.  It isn't humid at all and cools down beautifully at night.  Ruby and Ada usually ride their scooters or bikes around the driveway and down our street.  (There are no sidewalks anywhere here.  So weird.)

Ada loves her scooter, pogo stick and is getting really good at the little balance bike.  She will pretty much try (and do) anything Ruby does.  Ada loves sailing down little "hills" on her bike.  I'm so amazed by the balance bike and can't recommend it enough!  Steve thinks Ada will be on a 2 wheeler any day now ;) Ada Bikes from Steven Nelson on Vimeo.

Ruby likes riding her "big girl bike" (aka: 2 wheeler), but still needed/wanted someone to hold on and walk with her.  To be honest, we really never spent much time working on it with her since we got it for her a couple months ago.  (It's like we've had other things to do or something.)  Steve and I both knew she could do it because we'd hardly hang on, but she just wasn't confident yet- it is a much bigger and heavier bike than the balance bike.  However, the other night as she rode Steve let go and she took off.  I don't know if I've ever seen her as excited, happy, and proud.  She jumped up and down and squealed, "I did it!  I did it!  I can ride by myself!"  And that was the end of that.
