Four! Four! Four!

FOUR!?!  Doesn't that sound so big?!  Ruby's pretty proud of it.  We've been hearing a lot of, "I can do it, I'm four."  When we ran errands today she said, "I want to tell everyone in the store I'm four!"

Ruby had a great day on her birthday Saturday.  She was excited when she woke up to see Daddy (who was at a conference for a few days) and Dora birthday balloons.  We let her open most of her presents right away in the morning.  She was spoiled and got lots of fun new things!

She was out the door trying out her new big girl bike before 8, jammies and all!  We got her a balance bike in hopes that the transition to a regular bike will be easier.  I even made a basket and streamers for her new ride!

After breakfast (with sprinkles, of course) we headed out the door to her friend Kaitlyn's birthday party.     I wasn't sure what she'd think of going to someone else's party on her own birthday, but she had a great time, and is excited for her own party next weekend.  Kaitlyn had a Pajamas and Pancake party- so fun!

When we got home we had a little lunch and dug into a lot of new toys before naps.  Next we braved Forest Park for the annual hot air balloon race.  It's such a fun tradition since it always falls right around Ruby's birthday.  As we drove around the park looking for a spot to park I commented on all of the people there and Ruby said, "It must be a lot of people's birthdays."  Because the balloon race was for her birthday, of course!

After watching the ballloons take flight we stopped for hot dogs (Ruby's requested dinner) and then went home for birthday cake.  Ruby requested a Dora cake which was a surprise since she's never actually seen a Dora cartoon, but I guess she's read some Dora books and heard about her.  I searched all over for some little Dora figurines I could put on a cake and found nothing so I had to order a Dora cake-topper online last minute.  It was the oddest thing and the pieces really didn't seem to match, but Ruby insisted on putting all the pieces on her cake.  She loved it, but I'm a little afraid this picture's going to show up on cakewrecks.com!

Ada thought it was yummy though!

Here's a video montage of the big day, you know, for the Grandparents...

Four years ago we never would have imagined all of the fun we were in for.  Ruby is a beauty with her vibrant blue eyes and bleach bond hair.  We're a bit biased, but we think she's incredibly smart, funny, and creative.  She has a drive to know and understand everything around her and is likely the most persistent preschooler around.  Ruby loves books, words, pandas, stickers, school, Ada, and Mom and Dad.  She likes music, men, shoes, and everything sweet!
