So first of all an update on Ada's ears. (I know this is supposed to be a post about Ada swimming. It will all come together I promise.) About two days after her ear tube surgery she started sleeping through the night. Like going to sleep by 8:00ish and NOT WAKING UP until 7:00ish. Did I already tell you this? I don't care, it's so amazing, I'm saying it again. It was miraculous. She'd never done that before. NEVER. She typically woke up (screaming) a couple times a night since... she was born. So basically the poor Bear couldn't sleep because her ears were bothering her. Even when they weren't infected. Even when the doctors said they looked fine. Anyhoo, we were happy we'd gone through with the surgery but still trying to be cautious until her follow up appointment in early August. The ENT told us she could bathe and go swimming but try to avoid getting soap in her ears. She said, "You don't really have to worry because babies this age don't like to put their head in the water anyway." Ahhh, yeah, you don't know Ada. She has no fear of water. We tried to keep her head out of the water in the tub, but it got to the point where she'd look at us, touch her ear, and then dunk it in the water. Stinker! The follow up went well. She scored better on the hearing test (let me tell you about that) and the tubes looked good. (So for the hearing test I had to take Ada into this sound proof room, put earphones on her and sit her in my lap facing forward. They then played tones and trained her to look left or right by lighting up these boxes on either side. Inside the boxes were various animals; a monkey clanging cymbols, an elephant raising it's trunk, etc. It very much reminded me of Chuck.E.Cheese's circa 1988.)
We don't worry too much about water in her ears anymore.
She loves the pool but is a bit over confident. She makes the life gaurd so nervous in the baby pool when she slips and goes under. We always stay extra close and she always comes up laughing. In the big pool she wants "down, down" so we put this floaty thing on her.
Pretty sure she'd swim around in there all day!
Kind of looks like Ada is doing monkey see monkey do. Swimming pool gymnastics class. Stretching and sticking the landing! Cute. I loved the video at the big pool. No fear and such a little squirt! Glad to hear the ears are doing well and sleeping through the night is such a blessing! Love you guys
