1 month old

Ruby is 1 month old today, so we decided to go to Kangaroo Kids and get her weighed. Thus far, she has been a champ in the weight department. She gained her birthweight back in just 5 days (6 lbs 12 oz) and gained nearly 1 lb between 5 days old and 2 weeks old (7 lbs 11 oz). So, 2 weeks was the last time we weighed her and according to Dr. Plax, babies gain on average 6-8 oz per week. Ruby continues to push ahead, however, not paying attention to these mere average gains. She weighed in today at 9 lbs 10 oz. Thus, she has gained approximately 43% of her birth weight and is moving at a clip of just under 1 lb/week. We don't think this will be the case for the rest of her life however, because, for instance, at 5 years, she would weigh about 270 lbs. But we'll keep you posted.
