Summer Camp

For the past year Ruby has been talking about going to summer camp with our church.  Several churches from Waco take 3rd through 6th graders to a sweet little camp about 2 or 3 hours from Waco for 3 nights.  She was certain she was going as soon as she could.  All spring she worked on her friends trying to talk them into going with her but none of her friends signed up to go.  Ruby was still determined to go and, really, I was the one more worried about her not having a "friend" to go with.  She got nervous as the day to leave got closer, but she packed everything she would need including her weighted blanket and melatonin!

Just a tiny bit nervous, but mostly excited!

There were 5 girls from our church who went; all sweet and Ruby knew a couple of them fairly well so that was a bit of a relief when dropping her off.  (She also knew a few other Waco girls from other churches who would be there too.)  I didn't stop thinking about her the entire time, but I got several text messages and pictures from our children's pastor and one of the mom's who chaperoned so I knew she was having a greta time!

Sweet girls!

Mom was very happy to see them all wear lifejackets in the lake!

It was a blast and I think she's ready to go again next year!

Thankful for an amazing children's pastor, moms who volunteer to chaperone, and girls who bond together with matching hairdos!

Ada had a playdate every day Ruby was away and was pretty much spoiled so she survived without big sister!  I'm guessing when it her turn rolls around, mom will have get to be a chaperone!

She's going to be a popstar, but also doesn't want to be too far away from mom for any length of time!
