New Diggs

We decided after our craziness last summer that we were not going to look at houses until spring of 2020.  Which meant, both Steve and I, checked Zillow almost daily!

We really weren't that anxious to move, we just like looking at houses and keeping an eye on the market.  We also knew just what we wanted and what we didn't want.  We wanted more space, a quieter street, a pool, move-in ready and updated, in the same school attendance area (which was narrow), a yard, and on and on.  Although we were/are super picky, we have always really been on the same page which I'm thankful for.

Anyway, mid-July Steve saw a house pop up that looked like nearly everything we wanted, but it didn't really have a backyard so he immediately ruled it out.  We had looked at houses before that have a pool, but really no yard beyond that and I wanted (needed?) garden space and green space.  That same morning I saw the same house pop up and, knowing it was in a neighborhood/area we really liked, I decided to just drive by and peek at it.

This is the first thing I saw:

The next thing I did was text Steve the Zillow listing and he replied "no yard" and I replied:

😍😍😍😍😍

And then we quickly contacted our realtor (who was out of the country!) and went to look at the house and made an offer and had the house under contract the next day.  We know what we like.  We know what we want.  There was no hesitation with this one.

Our current house was up on the market 4 days later and off the market 5 days after that.  Hallelujah!

We moved in about 3 weeks ago and love, love, love our house!  It hasn't been with out drama, read: sewer smell, bathtub leak, but now that we have that sorted out it's pretty great.  I'm walking a line of not wanting to sound braggy but really just feeling super appreciative of living in this place that feels so perfect for us.

We have a nice (manageable) grassy front yard.  To the left of the house is the pool and to the right of the house is the garden.

Entryway/stairway

Bright living room with lots of windows

So much more cabinet space!

We have an actual laundry room, not just a laundry hallway!

This sink is not practical, but we do love the aesthetics of the house.

The house is all very updated and very much our style.  Interestingly, the producers of Fixer Upper bought this house last fall and did a TON of work to it; shiplap, painted the exterior brick, new front door, updated light fixtures, and smart everything.  So smart that we couldn't figure out how to work the most basic of things.  We had no keys to our house and no garage door opener and couldn't get the keypad code to work so the only way we had to get in and out of our house the first week was with an app to unlock it.  So weird!  I also spent the first week scolding the girls for playing with the light fixtures.  They insisted it wasn't them, but "the lights didn't turn on by themselves!"  It turns out they did.  They are all wifi connected and we still haven't figured them all out, hence the floodlight on the side of the garage is on perpetually.  The previous owners had no plans to move, in fact they were still  in the middle of several projects when we first looked at the house.  We benefited from their sudden move!

After 5 years, we decided a pool is really a necessity in central Texas

The back of the house is full of windows

The deck stretches along the back of the house overlooking woods and a dry creek.  We saw deer in the backyard last weekend and we've been told there's a waterfall back there not too far!

pool, pool shed, and covered patio area off to one side

we have been in here every.single.day

sometimes multiple times a day!

We are one happy family in our new home!
