We decided to do a movie theatre birthday party for Ada when we saw that the My Little Pony movie was coming out just before her birthday. Ada invited three little girls from our church/small group and four girls she's made friends with at school. We scheduled the party for Sunday afternoon before her birthday. We had a party room to use before the movie started. The girls each got to pick a "cutie mark" tattoo to put on when they arrived. Next, they each choose My Little Pony charm to make a beaded necklace. Ada and I made our own pin-the-tail-on-the-pony game. Each girl got to pin a colorful braid on the pony which they got to take home as a hair clip. After the games and crafts we sang "Happy Birthday" and enjoyed the yummy cake!
The girls each got a snack pack with popcorn and a drink to enjoy during the movie. We had a row reserved for our party which was right in the middle, "the best row" according to Ruby! Thankfully a few of the parents stayed to watch the movie because I had to make several bathroom runs with many the girls. I never have to take Ruby or Ada out of the movie to go potty, so I wasn't expecting SO many breaks. I think all of the girls really had fun and enjoyed the movie.
On the way home after the party Ada said, "Mom, I know it's not my birthday yet, but I feel six!"
A few days later, on Wednesday was Ada's actual birthday. Both girls were up extra early so we opened (lots and lots of) presents and then had sprinkle donuts for breakfast! Ada told me she got the best presents; a scooter, books, an outfit, locket, headband kit, Hungry Hippo game, a doll, beads, crafts, a cotton candy machine and more and more. I brought Chic-fil-a for the girls for lunch at school. Ada cried during lunch because she didn't want me to leave, so of course I felt awful for making her upset on her birthday. I think she perked up quickly though and shared Oreos with her classmates for afternoon snack. Steve and I had a meeting we had to go to that evening, so I cancelled my afternoon class so that I'd be able to pick the girls up after school and spend some time with the birthday girl. I picked up Vitek's BBQ (mac-n-cheese for Ada) for dinner and when Steve got home we had dessert. Ada has been talking about banana splits for months. I'm not sure where she got the idea or heard about them, but we decided to finally have them for her birthday treat! Both girls had specific expectations about the whole banana, chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, and caramel, whipped cream on all three scoops of ice cream, and cherries and sprinkles too! They were delicious!
Stats: Ada grew 3.5 inches and gained 4 lbs this year. She's 47.5 inches tall and 48lbs.
Eat: Ada is a pretty good eater. She loves carbs and snacks! She usually eats cereal for breakfast or strawberries and cream. She brings her lunch to school (pb tortilla or mac-n-cheese) about half the time. Some of her favorites include; mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets or fish sticks, soup, pasta, bread, cheese quesadillas and anything with sugar!
Teeth: Ada hasn't lost any yet, but the two bottom middle teeth are just starting to wiggle! Handedness: Ada has continued to write with her right hand, even though I'm convinced she's a lefty. I think she didn't like being the only lefty in our family and taught herself to use her right hand. She's still pretty efficient with both!
Sleep: Ada goes to sleep around 7:30-8:00pm and wakes around 7am daily, pretty similar to Ruby. She insists Mommy tucks her in every night, such a Mommy's Girl. I read, pray, and sing, and then Ada strips down to her underwear every night. She's a little oven at night!
Play: Ada loves to play pretend or family with Ruby. She likes to be read to, and is starting to read some to me too. Ada loves music and dancing, she's taking ballet and tap again. She likes to play games, dolls, and spends lots of time in the playroom crafting. I'm always finding scraps laying around from something she's cut up!
School: Ada is in Kindergarten at Woodway Elementary in Mrs Mosley's class. Although she still sometimes tells me she doesn't want to go, she really seems to like school and tells us all about it. She likes music, computer, PE and library, but for some reason doesn't like art! I think she is doing well academically and is definitely making lots of friends. Some of her BFF's are Lela, Charley, Bryce, McKenzie, Harper, Grayson, Kade, and Ari, Harper, and Sophie from church!
Personality: Sweet as can be and always wants to snuggle! She's sensitive and a people-pleaser who wants to do everything right. She is funny and has a quick wit for a six-year-old. She likes animals and accessories! Ada is the extrovert of the family, but is also pretty shy in a new situation at first. She is a Mommy's Girl through and through.
