Ruby's school did a fundraiser (?) color run a couple weeks ago and, since we'd never done a color run, we all decided to participate! The most disappointing thing about the school is the lack of communication. Steve and I have decided it's partly poor communication on the school's part and partly just Texas/Waco culture. Not sure if it's just that it's just less hurried and more laid-back here or what, but we often have to dig to figure out what's going on and/or we get info at the last minute. Anyhow, we're still not sure what the event was for or about, but we had lots of fun!
They sent home white shirts for everyone the day before the race and the girls decorated theirs and got their sunglasses ready.
I couldn't really determine how long the run was going to be, so we decided to take the stroller to walk over to the school in the morning just in case the little legs were too exhausted to walk home afterwards. (Have I mentioned how much I love that we live within walking distance of school?!)
There were several different waves of runners and we went in the second or third group. I think almost everyone started with the first group, so there were not a lot of people around us during most of the run. We parked the stroller at the school so we could all run/jog/walk together. We ran through the neighborhood starting and finishing at the school and there were about 6 color stations along the way.
And, they're off!
First 100 meters!
Checking out their color.
This explains why Ruby's hair was pink for a week!
Had to stop after each color station to see how we looked!
So colorful!
I'm pretty sure
one of my children would have run the entire 2(ish) miles. The
other one insisted on several rest breaks and walked most of the way. I'll just put that out there and let you figure out which one did which. *rolling my eyes* It really was pretty fun though, and we will plan to do it again next year!
Plus, we're in Texas, so breakfast tacos at the finish line. Yes please!
What a fun day! Love the smiles! Fun family event that ya'll could enjoy.
