I know it might surprise you, but Waco is actually not the most exciting of cities to live in. However, we have jumped on the Baylor train and take advantage of a lot of fun Baylor events and activities. They had a spring football practice open to the public a few weeks back. It was a gorgeous morning and a good opportunity to get inside the stadium. I can't admit this out loud in Texas, but I really know nothing about football, except that it's very important here. Steve, on the other hand, would love to go to all the games so I'm glad we were able to see them practice!
Ruby is the only one brave enough to get close to this guy!
Beautiful stadium
Sic 'em!
One of the students in my freshmen intro to education class is on the Baylor Track and Field team so I was hoping to get to a meet to watch her run this spring. After reading about her in the paper (link below), we realized we HAD to go to a meet.
Baylor’s Taylor Bennett speedily making a name in track world: As first impressions go, Baylor’s Taylor Bennett is killing it.
I had no idea Baylor had such an incredible track program. Taylor is amazing to watch. Some of the best runners in the world were there, including several Olympic medal winners. We forced Ruby and Ada to stay (late!) until we could watch Asafa Powell run. Track meets are long, and can be boring quite honestly, but the girls did pretty well. There were snacks! and face painting! and bounce houses! Ruby enjoyed watching the pole vaulters and triple jumpers, as well as, the runners and hurdlers. We will definitely have to go again next spring!
"Mom, why does everyone have their cameras on?" "Because that's an olympic gold medalist." As Asafa Powell jogs across the finish line!
I thought it was pretty hilarious that Ruby gave the "sic 'em" sign unprompted when I took a selfie!
Cool as can be! Baylor Bears all the way. SIc'em!!
