So I'm going way back to August/September to try to play catch-up on some of our random fall activities. It's definitely been our busiest season in a long time.
I LOVE my job and have been so blessed to be able to do what I'm doing. This opportunity fell into my lap and it's way more than I could have ever dreamed of. I'm technically "part-time adjunct faculty" in the School of Education where I teach Intro to Teaching and supervise senior-level Interns. It's fun, rewarding, and flexible, but honestly, it's a lot of work. More than I even expected. Our current set up is having a (wonderful!) nanny, Caroline, come to the house 3 hours 3 mornings a week while I'm actually teaching. The other 2 days while Ada is at pre-school I'm supervising 9 Interns (student teachers) at a local elementary school. These means Steve does a lot of the morning routine and most of Ruby's school drop offs. It's all been an adjustment, but a good one I think.
It only took a year for us to jump on the Baylor bandwagon! It's hard to live in this town and not be a BU fan.
The girls were so upset we were the only ones at a Baylor soccer game without Baylor shirts so Steve won one during half-time!
I got to sneak away for a girl's weekend in between Ruby and Ada's birthday weekends. It was a super quick trip, but I'm SO glad I was able to go. Strangely 3 of my closest high school friends now live in Colorado. Hoff, one of them, got married this past summer and was having a reception in Fort Collins so I flew into Denver for a quick weekend. It was so fun staying with Sos and meeting her sweet, sweet girls (not sure why I don't have any pics of Maya, but isn't Wren a dolly?!). I got to see Sos's parents, Hoff's parents, my beautiful friend Em, my good friend Joe, his mom, and so many new friends.
Meanwhile, Steve had/got to take the girls to a birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese on Friday night.
And spent Saturday at the Waco Cultural Arts festival.
I was actually pretty bummed to miss that, it was one of the first outings we had when we moved last fall and really cool.
What else have we been up to....? We spent one last weekend at the zoo before our membership ran out.
We went to the local Arboretum's fall garden day and finally put together a fairy garden in the back yard for the girls under our swing set.
We've enjoyed yummy, Texas, veggies from our CSA and the year round farmer's market.
We discovered a yet-to-be-identified creature on your back patio.
Seriously, what is that?! We saw several. At first I thought it was just some sort of seed or pod, but sure enough it was crawling along. Looks like a fuzzy snail. Weird.
So that's a little glimpse of some of our fall. I have lots more pictures and posts and, hopefully, will be better about getting them up now that my semester is winding down.
So glad to see all the recent goings on in Texas! Congrats on your new job. So awesome! The girls are getting so big. It is wonderful to see their smiling faces! Thanks for the post!
