The Big Move!

*Someone* asked me the other day if I quit blogging... so I guess Gaga and Grandpa, I mean *someone* needs some pictures and stories of their grandkids!

I have a lot to catch up on, so I guess I'll try to bring us up to speed chronologically over the next couple posts.  There will probably be a lot of randomness as I try to remember everything over the past few weeks.  Maybe that's nothing new here!

So the day after Ruby's STL birthday party, we had a little going away party with a bunch of friends.  I decided I hate saying goodbye.  Why did I plan a going away party?!  I had a little get together with some friends I used to teach with and Steve's lab also had a dinner the week before we left.  Not to mention lots of dinners and playdates with friend too.  It was a busy week, but really made us realize how many amazing friends we've been surrounded by in St. Louis.

After the parties it was time to get serious about packing.

 So helpful!

We picked up the moving truck Friday morning and did most of the loading that day.  I won't lie, it was stressful.  Thankfully, Steve's parents flew in that afternoon to help with the rest of the move.  It was so nice to have them there to distract the girls, ride along with us, and help out with loading, unloading, and cleaning.  We finished loading the truck Saturday morning, cleaned the house, and said some tearful goodbyes.  The girls even gave the house "hug, kiss, nosey".  I love that house.  Yeah, it was small, but it is such a nice house.  (And I'm not just saying that because I desperately want someone to buy it.  Anyone??!?)

Oh my gosh, did you notice our clothes?  It was so cool when we loaded the truck- perfect moving weather!

We traded off a bit, but mostly I drove the car with Gaga and the girls and Steve and his dad drove the big truck.  We stopped in Joplin to stay in a hotel Saturday night and drove the rest of the way through Oklahoma and to Waco Sunday.  Lollipops as big as Texas when we reached our new state!

(Thanks Cathy!!!)
The drive was long but went pretty smoothly.  We didn't get to our house until after 6 that evening, so we checked it out, let the girls run around, and then checked into a hotel up the road.  The unloading Monday morning went very fast and we were able to get the girls' rooms set up right away.

I cannot believe we've already been here for 2 weeks, but we are mostly unpacked and getting into a routine.  The house we are renting (along with all of the houses here) doesn't have a basement, but it does have a two car garage.  There are still a lot of boxes out there that need to be organized and I'm pretty certain we will only actually be able to park one car in the garage.  After talking to neighbors, that seems to be the norm.  Luckily we aren't used to parking in a garage anyhoo!

Once I get the last of the curtains hung and pictures on the walls I will take some pictures of the house.  It's not our University Heights house, but we're happy here for now!
