Apparently I've become the world's worst blogger. Sorry 'bout that.
We have two "and a half" girls now ya know. Ruby is 4
and a half and Ada is 2
and a half. Ruby says she got a half of a cookie on her half birthday and (we realized a day later) that Ada got fro-yo on her half birthday.
Big celebrations. Ha!
At 4.5 Ruby is as strong willed and determined as ever. She loves her sister and is driven crazy by her (why won't she just do what I tell her to do?!) on a daily basis. Ruby loves school, Journey Kids (church), and ballet. She likes to know exactly what our plans are each day and likes to keep busy. Coloring is probably her favorite activity, any craft really. This is about 2 weeks worth.
She's into fairy housese.
She has a small obsession with princesses (thank you Frozen) and is packed for the trip we're going to take
someday to "Princess World" (AKA Disney). Ruby tells us she's going to live by the beach when she gets her house but "I can skype ya". Ruby still loves books and reading. Her favorite word these days is "amazing" and she is always asking what words mean. She is brilliant (I can say that, I'm her mom) and quite creative. Her imaginary friends don't come around quite as often as at age 4 however. Did I ever tell you about pretend brother and sister? They were constant companions for quite some time. Ruby was often asked what their names were, to which she would give a look that clearly said, "What's wrong with Brother and Sister, haven't you read the Berenstain Bears?" She usually played with them during rest time and others would sometimes join; cinderella, charlie brown, etc. Recently she informed me that she knew their names; "Sister is Katie and you can call brother Tuna Fish." Bahahahahahaha! Tuna Fish. It was worth the wait!
Ruby is pretty shy and timid in new situations, but we are told she is quite a leader and helper at school! We just got her school pictures back.
I love that she still looks like a sweet, innocent little girl in it. I look at her so many times lately and wonder how she got to be such a big kid!
At 2.5 Ada is as spunky and cuddly as ever. She adores her big sister and, while she tries to assert her own opinions, she can easily be persuaded into anything by Ruby. Ada is talking so much and using the best phrases and words. She says "maybe, baby not" when Ruby asks for something questionable. Bottom is "dobbin" and she adds "either" to negate any sentence. "I want oap-a-meal either." She still loves her bubby and lovies and tried to talk Daddy into bringing the bubby in the car "dust in case". Yesterday she wanted me to go down the big slide with her because it was "sneaky". Bear-Bear likes Elmo, Minnie, and anything her big sis is into. Her favorite color is green. She couldn't identify any colors or shapes until about 2 weeks ago and now she knows them all. So weird, she learned them overnight! Prior to that she could point to each of our favorite colors and identify which ones mom, dad, and Ruby liked, but not name them. She's a super eater (asks for more after 2 hotdogs!) an early riser, but a good napper. Ada likes "picey" food (notice the flavor of these chips).
Ada is mommy's girl to the point Daddy can rarely help her with anything. Nothing.
She still takes her job as family comedian quite seriously.
"Wook at me guys. Cool!"
She is a monkey and always climbing. She's confident that she can do anything other (big) kids can do which makes people really nervous at the park! She is so ready for preschool, she's the first to march into Ruby's classroom in the morning and starts right in on whatever activity they have out! Ada remembers everyone's names and often rattles off Ruby's classmates, neighbors, and neighbor's pets, along with family and friends when we say our prayers each night.
Big girls have chores,
can buckle themseleves into their carseats (it.takes.for.ev.er.),
and get to redecorate a big girl room. Ruby is in a twin and Ada's in the toddler bed now. Ruby picked out the ABC comforter (of course!) and Ada got green ruffles. It's all a work in progress which is fun for Mom!
They still nap/rest in separate rooms and go to bed in separate rooms too. So. much. easier.
We love our big girls but tell them they can't get any older!
awww, such good catching up on them both! Love the new decorations and bedding. That is always so much fun to do.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post. So neat to hear about all the things that make the girls who they are. Love the decorations! You are very creative!
ReplyDeleteI just can't get over how much bigger they seem! I need to see you all soon!!!
