Snowmagedon

It was about 50 degrees when we got back to STL on New Years Day from our Christmas trip.  We apparently brought the cold back with us though because we woke up the next morning to a couple inches of snow and cold.  I had put off getting groceries when we got home which was a bad idea.

That is my friend's pic, but that's exactly how TJ's looked!  Apparently when the weathermen forecast single digits and snow St. Louisans hear "armagedon".  I had to be very creative about making meals (read: waffles, cereal, repeat).
It warmed up a bit on Saturday (mid 30's) so we bundled up and spent the morning at the zoo because we knew it might be our only chance to get out of the house for awhile.

I thought we were the only people there and was a little relieved when I saw another family in the insect house.  Then I noticed the dad was wearing a Packers hat.  Bahahaha!
We got about a foot of snow on Sunday and then the cold hit.  Most of the schools here had 4 or 5 snow days tacked on to Winter Break!  We hunkered down, made some chili, chocolate chip cookies, and watched some movies.

I was very thankful for lots of time to put away Christmas stuff and organize, and all of the new toys that kept the girls busy!  It was nice to finally get back to school and into our routines by the end of the week and I even got to sub a couple more days at Ruby's preschool.  Since then we've had a couple 50+ degree days so most of the snow is gone and the girls think it's spring.  Typical St. Louis weather- you never have time to get used to anything and you definitely do not want to pack away your light jackets!

  1. I'm glad you survived the St Louis Blizzard and didn't run out of food! Those are the 2 CUTEST bakers I've EVER seen!
