The Waiting Game

We woke up Saturday (Sept 19) thinking that Baby Nelson might be arriving soon. We went for a few walks around the neighborhood and around and around the mall- I was definitely getting anxious.
Playing games to pas the time!

Sunday evening we went to church at 5:30pm and during the service Steve asked why I kept checking my phone. I was checking the time because what I thought could possibly be contrations kept happening every 8 minutes or so. We got home around 7:30pm and I told Steve he should start timing...6 minutes, 5 minutes, 3 minutes, 3 minutes! That's when he started frantically packing the suitcase! I called the doctor who immediately said to come on in.
Doctor: 3 minutes apart? You need to come on in.
Me: I'm not really sure they're contractions.
Doctor: You need to come in.
Me: They are only about 40 seconds long.
Doctor: You need come in.
Me: They aren't that strong yet.
Doctor: Is this your first baby?
Me: Yes.
Doctor: You need to come in and get checked now!
Monte sitting on the changing table as we were getting ready to leave. Doesn't he look excited?!
I was expecting to "labor" at home for awhile before going in but, by 9:00pm we were at the hospital and being checked in to a delivery room! It didn't go exactly as I had planned (amazing, huh?), but I have to say that it felt as if everything went very quickly and I'm thankful for that. Steve was the perfect coach and I could not have done it without him! I later overheard Steve telling a friend, "I think childbirth is the most intense thing a women will ever do, and I know it is the most intense thing a husband will do!"
