Fall Thankfulness

A few more fall things:

Ruby had a music program  I'm thankful for the music teacher who always organizes wonderful programs for our kids to show off.  And also thankful that they are always short and sweet.  We're talking 20 minutes tops!

My mom walked to the school to pick up Ruby and Ada most (every?) day she was here and they loved all the butterflies!

We supported our man Beto and he ran an amazing race in a suuuuuuper red state.  He may be our next president and I wouldn't be sad about that.  We are thankful for the hope he brought to us progressive Texans!

Our good friends, Kat and Jason Froderman, stopped for a visit on their way through Waco for a wedding.  It was so fun seeing them and watching our six (six?!?!) girls play together.  Thankful they took the time to stop!
Thankful for people who remember to take pictures!

So many Thanksgiving Feasts!  Thankful for good schools, teachers, and friends.

I got volunteered to co-chair the Scholastic Book Fairs at Ruby's and Ada's school this year.  Which would not be a huge deal, except that we added a new member to our family three weeks prior.  Meaning, I had taken off a LOT of work already and hadn't slept in three weeks.  Alas, it got done and we raised a lot of money for the school.  I'll admit, there are a lot of activities and committees I will not volunteer to be a part of, but I can always get behind good books!

Here in the good state of Texas we get the whole week off for Thanksgiving.  I was looking forward to staying in pjs and leaving the house as little as possible!  We did take S out of school one pretty afternoon for a visit to the zoo.

We decided to stay put on turkey day as we have been tired and several of us had been recovering from colds.  Ruby and Ada were excited to watch the parade and stayed in their pjs all day.  We had a simple, but yummy meal!

The big girls had a movie date with Dad.  Everyone gave it two thumbs up!

The Grinch

Mom also got a movie date with Dad when he got an unexpected day off for the National day of Mourning for Bush.  Day dates are going to have to be the way to go because of weird foster care child care rules.  We had our favorite lunch- trashcan bowls at Club Sandwich before the movie.  It's a food truck permanently parked in the "Siloteria" at Magnolia so we rarely go because of the nutty tourists and crowds.  Wednesdays are usually SFL (safe for locals) though!  We saw Instant Family and also gave it two thumbs up.  I quite literally bawled through the entire movie.  The entire movie.  It felt pretty realistic to us as newbies.  The case workers were spot on identical to a couple case workers we had for trainings!

Day date!
