Also, we didn't buy a house. Sad face emoji. We randomly found a house for sale, in a neighborhood we love, with a pool. We put an offer in and quickly put our house on the market. As we neared the end of our option period we decided we really didn't want to risk owning two houses when we love our current house, so we terminated our contract. The next morning we got an offer on our house which ended up falling through, but prompted us to keep ours on the market in hopes that we would get it under contract and still be able to buy the new house. We had showing after showing after showing, and got an offer we were happy with...only to find out the sellers of the house we wanted to buy had accepted an offer the night before. What luck. Not going to lie, it was a TON of work getting our house ready and keeping it clean for 25 showings, and we are a bit bummed to not get the house. However, we are at the beginning of a super crazy time with school starting, me going back to work full time, and both Steve and I traveling on separate occasions over the next month. Packing and moving would have been insane. And while the yard, pool, and neighborhood were great, we would have had/wanted to make some changes to the house (which would have been more work). Not to mention we really do like our house. So now we have to figure out if we are going to plan ahead a bit more to be ready to buy something in a year or two, or if we'd rather stay put and put some money and effort into our current house to make it even more what we want (read:pool)!
