She did it! As of today Ruby is officially a Kindergartener! She has been ready for this day for a long time but still had some butterflies last night. Steve woke her up and she was bright-eyed and ready. Sadly, I had an 8:00 class meeting for the first time (I'm teaching at Baylor now- crazy exciting!) so I couldn't take Ruby for her first day. We all went to Meet the Teacher last week though, Steve texted me LOTS of pictures of the morning, and I got to walk over and pick her up this afternoon. Apparently, they roll out the red carpet and limo for the Kindergarteners first day. Literally!

Over the moon because the play dough she got is her favorite color!
Ruby wasn't quite as excited to get her pic taken at Meet the Teacher.
She was super shy that night, but I do think it really helped her to know where she was going, what it was going to look like, and to have actually met her teacher. She spotted the reading corner right away of course.
And Steve spotted this right away. Lest you forget, we are in Texas y'all.
About a month ago I waited until the girls were loaded in the van to tell them we were on our way to the doctor's office... Ruby had to get a couple more booster shots before Kindergarten and I was dreading taking her. With the promise of a trip to the book store and ice cream afterwards she really did a good job of being brave.
It was a relief to have that taken care of before our trip to 'Sconsinsota!
Little Sis getting in on the action.
She also had no problem partaking in the last day of summer donut run!
Ruby, I hope you LOVE school and Learn LOTS & LOTS! We are very proud of you. Ada - do you think you could be any Cuter, (or more excited about donuts w/sprinkles), or look more like your Daddy & Gaga Nancy?! Thanks for the post. Loved seeing Ruby's first day.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wonderful way to start kindergarten. Looks like you have a very nice school, Ruby the reader! Ada Bear all smiles over sprinkles. Cute as a bug. You really do look like Gaga Nancy in that pic!
ReplyDeleteWow!! That is awesome. We hope you're loving school, Ruby.
