45 Degrees Cooler

It was 106 degrees last week.  It's a dry heat, which does make a difference.  But, seriously.  Thankfully we missed a couple weeks of the hottest weather when the girls and I flew to "Sconsin-Sota".  Steve decided to go the opposite route and spend some time in hot and HUMID StL working before heading back to enjoy the Waco heat.  Poor Dad.

Both flights were a bit of an adventure.  We had a lot of "wait" time in Dallas

and then they loaded us onto a bus,

drove us out here,

and we waited some more.

We always have fun when we (finally) get to Gaga's and Grandpa's!

Gaga had the grand idea of camping out in the backyard one night.

Mom and Grandpa had the grand idea of staying in their beds inside the house.  I correctly predicted that no one would fall asleep until it was dark and they'd wake up at first light.  So you know, fully rested.  Apparently before falling asleep Ruby said, "Gaga camping is really fun, but it's really scary!"  But she toughed it out and made it all night!  Ada was ready to do it again the next night!  Gaga's reply?  "Maybe we can do it again when you get a little older."

Ruby and Ada took part in Gaga's Third Annual Treasure Hunt.  Ada was super confused why Gaga was making her pick up flowers, rocks, and pine cones at first, but got into it when she found some other treasures.
Why are we doing this?

At the end we got to use all of our treasures to make fairy gardens.  Ruby basically spent the entire week designing and redesigning her fairy garden.

Ada dumped a little of everything in to make hers just right!

We went on some mini train rides.

We went to a beach where Ada said, "It's really sandy in this pool" after asking if there were any sharks in the water.

We had some fun visitors RF too!  The Fredricks girls were up visiting their families in Minnesota and Wisconsin too.  They even have family in RF!  These girls call it "Minne-Sconsin" which also has a nice ring to it!

We met Brad, Britney, Rory and Finn at the library to see SuperWhy.  This proved to be utterly terrifying for all but Finn.  I couldn't even get either of my girls in the frame.  So we have awhile to continue saving for a Disney trip I guess.

The puppies at Gaga and Grandpa's were also quite scary for one Bear.  She was quite happy driving Tom and Roberta's pontoon boat though and told me later she was going to be a boat driver when she's a grown-up.  It was a gorgeous day for a boat ride on the river and the girls got to test out their new fishing poles.

We met Auntie Jen and Charley at a water park one day.  All three girls must have gone down the water slides 100 times each!

Gaga had a great idea to go berry picking!  The blueberries were ripe which was fun because none of us had picked those before.  Yum!

We tried fishing again in the lake and Grandpa found the perfect spot.  The girls simply dropped their line in the water and pulled up (tiny) fish after (tiny) fish!  Ruby was pleased she finally caught one by herself.

On the way home we boarded the plane and Ruby was a teeny bit upset with me that I forgot to fill up her water bottle.

At this point I was thinking maybe the fact that we weren't all three seated together wasn't such a bad thing.  No worries though, we were lucky enough were able to fill up that water bottle after all when they de-boarded the entire plane.  And, just for fun, we got to wait another hour to re-board!

Guess who fell asleep on the drive home and stayed asleep when I carried her to bed.  It was a miracle!

The day we flew home we woke up to 57 degrees.  When we landed in Dallas it was 102.  For the next 3 days every time we walked out the door Ada whined, "Why is it so hooooooot?"

Both girls insisted on sitting next to Dad in the booth when we went out to dinner for our anniversary the day after we got home.  Guess they missed that guy!
