Ruby's been asking to do ballet for quite awhile now. Her gymnastics class this summer was, honestly, not the best experience so we decided to wait on ballet until now. Her Christmas present from us was a couple dance leotards and her class. We splurged on the class for a variety of reasons (the tumbling class was cheap and not well run, the ballet class is within walking distance, two friends from school are in the ballet class) and I'm glad we did. In preparation for her first class we tried on her outfits, talked all about it and even watched some youtube videos of preschool ballet. I know that seems like overkill, but we've found Ruby does well when she knows just what to expect. I got a phone call about an hour before her first class telling us it was cancelled. I was worried Ruby would be incredibly disappointed but she handled it well. Her first question: "Can I still wear my tutu?!"
She was quite content to keep her tutu on all day! She's been to class twice now and LOVES it. Her favorite part of the day was "ballet" and when I asked her what her favorite part of ballet was she said, "My favorite part was all of it!" There are about 10 girls and the teacher seems great. Ada and I sit with the other parents on the other side of a two way mirror. It's great, the girls think they are looking at themselves in the mirror and we can see the cuties dancing away! Ruby has a smile on her face the entire class and appears to try everything and follow all directions.
Ada is a trooper. She loves to dance around the house with Ruby and would love to join her big sis. She always says "I do ballet too" before the class, but stays busy watching and popping snacks in her mouth!
It would be super cute to have them both in a class together some day!
Love this! I can't wait to see some moves/positions/twirls (I don't know anything about ballet obviously)! Miss you guys.
