Somehow I completely skipped blogging about the week that Steve was in New Orleans for the Society for Neuroscience conference. Hmmm...probably because I was a little occupied. Steve has attended a number of conferences away since the girls were born, but this was the first time I was home with
both girls
without help. I seriously have no clue how single parents do it. No clue. I was never so happy to see Steve as when he finally got home after 6 days away. We tried to stay busy and the days felt pretty normal. I knew the evenings would be the hardest part. I'm always watching the clock that last hour or so before Steve gets home in the evenings for all of the typical reasons (girls are getting cranky, dinner has to be made, blah, blah, blah). Steve has always been a very hands-on-dad and is a walking amusement park in the evenings. He does lots of fun and "funny stuff" with the girls so I can get dinner ready and we play man-on-man defense when it comes to bedtime! The evenings actually went pretty well with trips to the grocery store, walks to the park, and friends to keep us company! Lots of people must have been praying for us too because the girls were so good the whole week and Ada even gave me a couple nights of good sleep!
Ruby pretended to be Daddy at dinner using her "deep" voice she'd ask "What was your favorite part about the day?" Here she is drinking the milk from her cereal bowl "just like Daddy".
I didn't know how Ada would react to Steve after being gone so long. She was SO excited and neither girl wanted him to put her down all night!
We love our Daddy!
Steve is a great Daddy to our Grandgirls! We couldn't wish for any better and are so Thankful for having you in our lives. We are always praying for both of you.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics of the girls! Always glad to hear about all the goings on in St. Louis.
