What a FUN Memorial Day weekend we had! We were so excited to celebrate the wedding of Steve's sister Jen and her husband Drew. Even more so because Steve and Ruby were both in the wedding!!!
Suprisingly, I was a bit worried leading up to the wedding about; the 6+ hour car ride, sleeping in a strange place, adjusting to the schedule of wedding festivities, convincing Ruby to put on the pretty flower girl dress and accessories, and getting her to walk down the aisle. Okay, so I worried a LOT! Well, as it turned out, I had absolutely nothing to be worried about. I couldn't have asked Ruby to be a better traveler/flower girl! Snuggling into our own bed last night, I couldn't help but think we didn't deserve such a perfect weekend. We are so grateful for the blessing of fun time spent with family.
We headed to Madison Thursday morning, and the car ride couldn't have gone better.
Ruby looked at books and played with toys happily until we stopped for lunch. We barely got her buckled back in her seat and on the highway when she dozed off and didn't wake up until we were just a few miles from the hotel. Steve and I had no idea she was awake until we heard "See Gaga!" from the backseat. We checked into our hotel, said "hi" to Steve's family, and got ready for Jen and Drew's wedding rehearsal.
It was fun to see the beautiful setting for the wedding and reception, meet all of their friends and family, and enjoy a yummy dinner. Ruby was in heaven with all of the attention from Gaga, Grampfa, and Jen then her other Gaga and Grampfa arrived Friday!
We had a low-key morning and a LONG nap before the festivities began. After a small battle, Ruby was dressed in her adorable Flower Girl dress, complete with mini-bouquet!
Ruby and the two other Flower Girls (Drew's nieces) headed down the asile with some assistance. One of the girls ran straight to her Dad, one turned and headed back to her mom, while Ruby stopped mid-asile, noticed everyone looking at her, and just stood there!!! It was a beautiful wedding, with a gorgous bride, delicious dinner, and fun dance.
I was sure that Ruby would be a crabby mess by the time dinner ended and would have to go directly back to the hotel with my parents, but I couldn't have been more wrong. She loved every minute of it and would have stayed out on the dance floor until the DJ packed up if we'd had let her!
We even dragged her into the photo booth for some silly pics!
Can't wait to see the video and professional pics.
We got to spend the rest of the weekend with the Grandparents and newly married couple in Madison. We checked out the Madison Farmer's Market and the capitol on Saturday
and spent Sunday morning in the hotel pool.
Sunday afternoon/evening we celebrated Steve's 31st birthday. Happy Birthday Daddy!
What a FUN weekend with family! Ruby adored all of the attention, she sure loves her family!
We had a most terrific, wonderful, delightful, stupendous time. We love that Ruby so much. She was a so well behaved and cute as a button. We would like to thank everyone who made the wedding such a memorable event and for giving so much of themselves to make the weekend so special. To be able to spend time with friends and family was truly a blessing. We did miss all of those who couldn't attend, but certainly understand given the circumstances why not all could make it. You were with us throughout the weekend and missed. We hope all went well where you were and for those on the mend better days are coming!
