All Done!

It's sad but true; summer is officially "all done"! Mommy and Ruby had so much fun together all summer that they did NOT want to go back to school on Wednesday. Well, actually, I think Ruby was as happy as a clam to go back to Kerry's to play with the big girls. Mommy misses her SO much though! It will be a whole new adventure teaching reading this year so it has been a blessing to have that to look forward to. (I think I already mentioned that I have a new position this year, right?)

I had an ever-growing list of projects to accomplish this summer and only a few of them got "all done"! Ruby now has a new stash of chic baby bibs!

Good thing too, because she had outgrown all of her others. They barely fit around her neck and only covered a bit of her front. It seems like those projects that got checked of the list were the ones of necessity...
As our (two) faithful blog readers (Grandma and Grandpa) know, Ruby has one ity-bity baby tooth. Well, either there has been an eager beaver in Ruby's crib with her or that little chomper is able to do a lot of damage. I discovered this one afternoon when I went to get her out of her crib:

And I thought this piece of furniture was going to last her through college! Ah, hahahaha! Since I don't actually think it's a good idea for her to be ingesting polyurethane and what-not, quick thinking led to this project:

Yes, I cut up her bumper. I had to do something, and quick, before her next nap! (Am I going to regret that?) Oh, well, I think she likes it!

The front rail of the crib is also covered by the bumper now because Little Miss Smartie Pants figured out how to pull the gummi covers off and throw them on the floor. (She keeps herself very entertained playing in there before she falls asleep. We even hear her laughing to herself...she must be coming up with some hilarious jokes!)

One other accomplishment from this summer was Ruby's first sign. We've been practicing a couple signs over the last month and she now tells us she's "all done" after every meal!

Oh my, my sides hurt from laughing. Seeing the crib all gnawed up was hilarious. Not so funny to mom and dad though. Good thinking on the bumpers. I can just see Ruby sitting there at nap time devising a new plan. Good luck at school in your new position. You and Ruby will have all kinds of new adventures to share.

  3. Great post! How funny that Ruby could gnaw up her crib that much with her one lonely little tooth! Very creative use for the bumpers. Can't wait to hear what else she thinks up during nap times.

  4. Sheri,
I just love all the new bibs you made and how creative you are. The bumper idea is fantastic. I tell ya, Jim and I just laughed when we saw the picture of the crib rail all gnawed up. We bet that Ruby was having a great time. Thanks for always updating us all - it is so nice.
