Ruby and Ada had school right up through the last Friday before Christmas. I'm not sure if you've heard, but Waco is one of the top 5 cities in the country this year for worst flu outbreaks. The mommas were not too happy that we were still in school with all those germs floating around (and strep too) but, luckily, we made it through Christmas without getting sick. (I didn't fair so well after Christmas.)
I was able to help at both girls' class Christmas parties. (And, yes, they call them "Christmas" parties here. Their public school is full-on Christmas. Even though there are kids in their classes that don't celebrate. It's horrible. #weliveinwaco)
Decorating cookies. The more sugar the better.

Christmas Heads-Up
We only had a couple snuggle days before Christmas
Somehow I was able to snap this adorableness in-between 746 other ridiculous pictures. It might be my best pic yet! By the time I posted it to Instagram, they were screaming at each other. #sisters
We went to Christmas Eve service at our church
We love candles and christmas carols!
Christmas Eve
As you can see in the picture above, we obviously don't do crazy-buy-a-hundred-toys Christmas at our house, but it's super special. (And we always feel like we got.so.much.stuff!) Steve and I gave the girls a few books, clothes, and their biggest wish list toy; a hover board for Ruby and Oonies for Ada. Ruby woke up first, a little after 6am, and tiptoed out to see what Santa had left. She jumped in our bed giddy that "Santa brought a hover board", little did she know it was from us and when she saw the tag she was shocked! We waited until Ada woke up around 6:40 to check it all out. Santa brought the neck pillows they asked for, Fingerlings, books, Shopkins, candy, markers, pens, tape, chapstick, etc. They were in heaven!
"Thank you Ruby!" One of my favorite moments! The girls decided the day before that they had to buy gifts for one another so we did a Target run and they picked out a small treat for each other.
I was pretty excited for Steve to open the brain clock I found for his office!

We packed up and headed to DFW Christmas afternoon. We were scheduled to get in around 8pm so the girls decided to wear their pjs. It was a good decision because we ended up de-boarding the first plane we got on and, after the delay, didn't get to RF until after midnight.
our first plane
I blamed Steve for the delay... but I guess I did buy him that shirt. (Don't worry, it's ironic.)
Yep. Pretty much every day we were in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Needless to say, I didn't leave the house much!
Steve and I left Minnesconsin wondering if we'd survive if the opportunity to move back ever presented itself. We are certainly very, very thankful to live in a place where we don't have to bundle our children up every time we leave the house for months at a time. We've had a cold snap in Waco this past week (lows in the teens!) and we are definitely looking forward to 70 degrees this weekend!
We had so much fun in River Falls at Gaga and Grandpa's house. Sadly, Uncle Logan didn't make it because he was sick. We loved our Auntie Sam time though!
Making chapstick with Auntie Sam
Ruby and Ada were much braver than Steve and I. They bundled up and bundled up some more to play in the snow several times. We only let them stay out 20-30 minutes at a time, but they made the most of it!
SO COLD
frozen bubbles
We came up with lots of indoor fun though...
First time bowling!
just a little heavy
Bowling Babes! Ready to start a league!
homemade pretzels
homemade cinnamon rolls
indoor ice skating
Ruby wanted to skate alone!
Gaga and Grandpa took the girls out sledding one afternoon in Winona, but we found lots of indoor fun in Winona too. The girls all swam at the hotel pool and we also got to go see Ferdinand which was really cute. We were so thankful Uncle Drew, Auntie Jen, and Charlotte were all able to work out their schedules to visit when we were there. I'm not sure we've all been together since right after Charley was born!

Ruby and Ada mostly enjoyed time to play with their only cousin. They crafted, played pretend, and choreographed some dances for us!
we were all spoiled rotten as usual
Hatchimals!
Twin Hatchimals were a hit!
Gaga Nancy's birthday is right after New Years, so we had a little early celebration with her when we were all in Winona!
Happy Birthday!
Ice cream cake in January- only in Minnesota!
