Turkey Time

The girls school had their annual family Thanksgiving feast the week before the holiday.  Steve was still out of town for Ruby's feast, but she and I enjoyed a delicious traditional meal from the school cafeteria!
We where tank tops for our Thanksgiving feast here in Texas (everyone else is pretending it's fall).

Thankfully (see what I did there), Daddy was back in town for Ada's feast the next day so he got to enjoy the yummy meal this time! (And, yeah, don't even get me started about the feathers and vest.  We live in central Texas which is about 20 years behind the rest of the world.)

Per usual, school was out for the whole week.  They really like to live it up remembering that happy meal between the Pilgrims and Indians.πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„  We went to see Coco one afternoon and I highly recommend it!

Gaga Donna and Grandpa Steve flew to Waco on Thanksgiving Day and we had a great weekend with them!  We started off with waaaaaaayyyy too much food and this time it was truly scrumptious!  On Friday we went to the Homestead Fair for the first time.  Homestead Herritage is this small, Christian farming community outside of Waco that lives similar to the Amish or Mennonites.  Each year they put on a huge fall fair after Thanksgiving.  We got to watch a sheep dog demonstration, go on a hayride, pet bunnies and puppies, see lots of animals, do a hay maze, dip candles, weave scrunchies, and make soap.  Also, the food was amazing!

Yummy!

Hayride

Yep, my child wore Dalmatian ears to the fair.  This is us people.

The next day we took Gaga and Grandpa with us to the little Christmas tree farm that has become our tradition.  It was a warm, sunny day and lots of cute trees to pick from.  They grow Afghan pines here, so not a thick, full Fraisar fir, but we prefer the sweet scraggly ones we get to cut ourselves!  It's lit and decorated and my mom added a bunch of pictures to our tree skirt so it's up to date!  Now it just needs a string of popcorn and cranberries!

Ada's choice was a bit too tall.  And dead.

Ruby's was a bit too small.  And also maybe dead.

Found one!

Everyone took a turn cutting.

Almost

Not posing.  Actually just how he cuts a tree.  πŸ™„

Gaga thinks it's way too warm to be getting a Christmas tree.

Always magical

As usual, it was hard to say goodbye on Sunday, but we are looking forward to seeing them and more family in a few weeks!

Once the tree is up, it's tradition to watch Elf!
