So, we all started school again a month and a half ago (hence the no blogging thing) and it's been busy, but great!
I am teaching the same courses this semester and it's been great having one year under my belt. One of the other supervisors who sweetly mentored me last year, commented how much calmer I seem this fall! I guess that's what happens when I know what I'm doing! I still keep pretty busy while the girls are in school but I did get to sneak in a fun girls lunch on my birthday with these sweet friends who surprised me.
Ruby started school on August 23rd. She was super anxious to find out who her teacher was and a bit nervous about everything new and different. We went to meet the teacher a few days before school started which helps tremendously and increases her confidence on the first day. Ruby seems to really enjoy school so far. She comes home telling us waaaaaaaay more than she ever did last year. Steve and I have been very happy with her teacher and experience this year. Ruby also qualified for the GT program so she gets to ride the bus to another school one day a week with the other GT kids from her school. The program has been nothing but impressive! They are spending this semester doing a simulation about the Great Barrier Reef. In the afternoons they do mini-maker time where they learn chess, create with legos and keva planks (so cool!) and do weaving. They also have an extensive social/emotional curriculum which is such a huge component to GT characteristics, especially with our child ;)
On our way to drop off school supplies and Meet the Teacher
Hard to believe this beauty is a first grader!
Ada had to wait to start school until a week later, August 29th. She also had meet the teacher, but was very familiar with the teachers and classroom because her big sis was there 2 years ago. She is at the same school as the previous 2 years, but now goes 3 days a week. She has made some new friends, loves having "jobs" at school, and thinks she's the bees-knees now that she has homework! They work on a letter a week along with a theme. The third day of school each week is field trip day where she gets to take a van to various places around waco. So far they have visited the science museum, fire station, dentist office, and park.
Sorry. I couldn't pick just one! Ada has been so brave and loves prek!
I miss these sweet moments from the summer, but we are so happy they both like school.

Love hearing about all the goings on in Texas!
