Ada's First Day

From Summer 2015
With all of the hoopla over Ruby's first day of Kindergarten, Ada was excited to finally have her day in the spotlight!

We went to Meet the Teacher last week to meet Ms Heather and Ms Aimee and check out Ada's new classroom.  I can already tell it's going to be a great year- her teachers are so organized and have so many fun things planned!

Ada did fantastic in the morning when I dropped her off!

Every time she would talk about going to school she'd tell me "... and I'm not going to cry!"  She stayed true to her word!  She held on tight, but then Ms Heather took her hand and she went right in!  This is a big deal because Ada's had a lot of separation anxiety (basically since we moved to Waco) whenever I leave her.  She loved school and her teacher last year but would still often cry when I dropped her off and she usually screams (for all of 30 seconds) when I take her to her classroom at church or even just go for a run.

We are all adjusting to our new morning routines.  I leave early 3 mornings a week to teach class and our new nanny, Caroline, comes when Steve has to leave to take Ruby to school.  Ada has had a couple rough mornings with our new nanny but is doing better than I expected with that too.  I'm home by 10:30 so it's a short morning and nice to still have those days home with her.  The other two mornings either Steve or I drop Ruby off and then I take Ada (and a neighbor friend) to preschool before going to observe my teaching interns.  Then in the afternoon Ada and I walk over to school to pick up Ruby!
