Our Beautiful Ballerina

From Spring 2014

Our little ballerina just finished her last ballet class for the season.  Ruby loved going every week and I'm so glad we decided to sign her up!  It was so much fun watching her with a grin on her face the entire class each week.

After putting all these clips together I realize this may be a video (at the end of the post) only a mother could love!  It appears like random choas, but really the class was quite organized.  The instructor led the girls in warm ups, barre practice, and several dances each week.  The girls had fun dancing with ribbons, star wands, roses (I think that one was the sleeping beauty ballet), and tutus of course!B  At the end of each class they had to curtsy to their teacher- pretty cute!

On the last day of class they invited the parents into the studio to watch.  They don't do a recital or performance or anything (which was part of the reason we chose this place- none of us are ready for that!) but we got an up close view of a typical class.  Usually the parents sit in the hallway outside the studio.  There is a two-way mirror so we are able to watch but the ballerinas can't see us.  Genius.

Ruby was excited that Daddy was going to come watch on the last day, but when she saw all those grown-up eyes she wasn't so sure.

She did warm up after the first 10 minutes and had fun showing us all of her moves!  (There were a couple girls who didn't leave their parent's laps.)

We are so proud of our beautiful ballerina and look forward to ballet again in the fall!
