Decking the Halls

Decorating for Christmas has required some creativity this year! We put our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving as usual, but held off on the ornaments to see what Ruby's reaction would be first.
From Winter 2010
She checked out the lights and seemed to like it, but didn't seem overly interested in it. So...we decided to put some ornaments on...the top half! Ruby is definitely more interested now!

She frequently walks over, points up, and says "ball, ball, ball", but luckily we haven't had any causalities yet! Each day when we get home we have to plug the lights in and Ruby says "pitty" (pretty).

We had to find an "out of reach" spot for the stockings as well. And I actually kind of like the way it looks with them hanging above our window!

We did get one new Christmas decoration that is Ruby-friendly. She has her very own advent calendar hanging on her door.
From Winter 2010
Each day we put a new "character" in the nativity. Ruby will point and say "Mawee" (Mary) and "Joe" (Joseph)!
Any guesses on how many of those pieces Ruby loses before Christmas?!

  1. I almost had to dig through the trash can looking for "Ma-wee" tonight. (As you saw in the previous post, we've found other objects in there.) Luckily, Dad found her behind the couch. Not so sure this advent calendar is toddler-safe...too many pieces to keep track of!!! So funny to hear Ruby call "Ma-wee" "Ma-wee" as we scoured the house for her though!

  2. Steve, Sheri and Ruby,
Your house looks fabulous and I just love where you hung your stockings. Ruby is just a doll and we hope we can see you all when you are in the area.

  3. Is there anything more precious than a little angel at Christmas? Your decorations sure do look pretty. Can't wait for some big hugs 'round the holidays!
